This is a marvelous overview of the Island , Thank you Scott of ‘Blue Peter’
A visitor in September 2018, Scott of ‘Blue Peter’, took these great aerial videos of Middle Percy Island. It is Interesting to see how well wooded the 2,000Ha island has become since the sheep were taken off in 1964, and the ring-barking of the trees for grazing ceased. The black and white photos from the Whites days show a stark contrast, where the grazing land is clearly visible for 1500 to 2000 sheep from 1921 – 1960s.
West Bay Anchorage, picture left is the A-frame and Telephone Shed hidden by coconut trees. The Treehouse is nestled into the hill side overlooking West Bay beach and anchorage.
The entrance to the lagoon. The lagoon is tidal, several anchorages are available for boats that can sit on the sand at low tide but please keep the entrance clear at all times.
The Percy Island Homestead Circa 1876, home to the current caretakers, resident goats, peacocks, peahens, chickens, 18 of 30 beehives, an orchid and organic vegetable garden.
The PIYC club house, otherwise known as ‘The A-Frame’ at West Beach, is where visitors gather, share a meal, cooked on the open fire, and leave a memento.
